Principal 

Helen Hayes M.S.T.S.D.

B.A. Hons Literature, A.N.E.A. Speech & Drama, Diploma Creative Writing,

I have taught Speech and Drama in Sussex since 2006, providing tuition for students ranging from those who love acting and drama, students who wish to gain entry to college or university, those who need self-confidence and for various local drama and theatre groups, schools and professional organisations.

 

Externally to Mad About Drama, I am a provider of tailored workshops for other professional organisations and schools.Previously I have also taught at Drusilla Duffill Theatre School, Brighton & Hove High School,Top Hat & Tutu's, Dramatic Minors and gained valuable experience working as a role-play actress for several local companies.

 

I am an active member of the speech and drama commitee for Springboard Brighton & Hove Festival of Performing Arts, gaining valuable insight, assisting adjudicators through out the festival, since 2009. As a past over all Championship winner of Springboard, disciplines in Acting, Sight-Reading and Verse, I continue to encourage students to perform at festivals.

 

Further training keeps me up to date through Professional Development Workshops, attended through the Society of Speech and Drama Teachers and New Era Academy of Speech and Drama. Recent courses attended include 'A Haptic Approach to Speech' with vocal coach Annie Morrison, 'Acting Through Song', a musical workshop with Kim Ismay (Tanya, Mama Mia) and 'Shakespeare' with the Globe.

 

Current organisations provided for are I.S.P - Intergrated Services Providers and weekly groups, Mad Mixed Drama and Sheddingdean and Southway Schools.
